Kern County Animal Services announced a fee-waived adoption event set for Saturday in honor of the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day, joining more than 150 animal shelters throughout the state.

Since last year’s event saw a huge success with 3,609 animals adopted in one day across California — significantly higher than the original goal of 2,024 adoptions — organizers said they raised the goal number of adoptions to 5,000 this year. Read more
