  The San Diego Humane Society participated in the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day on Saturday.

  As part of the state-wide initiative — hosted by CalAnimals, SF SPCA and the ASPCA — adoption fees for all animals were waived in an effort to clear the shelters.

  This year's latest tally of pets adopted during the California Adopt-a-Pet Day in San Diego was at least 293, the humane society said in an X post on Saturday night.

  It’s good news for Coronado shelter pets looking for a home. The adoption rates at PAWS Coronado are on track for a record-breaking year. So far, more than 113 pets have been adopted this year. That’s an average of 23 adoptions per month!

  The Riverside County Department of Animal Services is making efforts to aid its overwhelmed shelters by holding California's second-annual Adopt-a-Pet Day.

  One of the 150 shelters participating is the Coachella Valley Animal Campus, who says they are overrun with dogs and cats. The Adopt-a-Pet Day waives any adoption fees, as officials hope it encourages residents to add a new furry friend to their home.

  Saturday, June 7th, is the California Adopt-a-Pet Day, with fees waived. The goal is to find loving homes for 5,000 pets across the state. More than 150 animal shelters are participating in this year’s event, including Calaveras County Animal Services (CCAS). The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with adoption fees covered. However, all the dogs will be out of their kennels between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with volunteers helping to introduce potential adoptees to the pooches.

  Several California animal shelters are waiving adoption fees and extending summer hours to promote pet adoptions on June 7th for California Adopt-a-Pet Day. The San Diego Humane Society is joining other shelters across the state in waiving fees for all adoptions on June 7th. They are also extending their weekend adoption hours until 7 p.m. at all their campuses through October 25th, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
