  The Ukiah Animal Shelter is participating in the California Adopt a Pet Day on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  Adoption fees will be waived ($31 license fee required for Mendocino County residents).

  This will be held at the Ukiah Animal Shelter at 298 Plant Road in Ukiah. We will be having grooming and dog training demonstrations, free dog collars and tags, vendors, food and raffles. Come meet your new best friend. Read more

  Ventura County Animal Services will participate in the second annual California Adopt-A-Pet Day, joining more than 150 animal shelters across California, for a free statewide adoption event on Saturday, June 7.

  All adoption fees will be waived during this one-day event, and every adopted animal will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and flea-treated.

  “With our Ventura County shelters operating in a constant state of overcapacity, this adoption event couldn’t come at a better time,” said Esteban Rodriguez, director of Ventura County Animal Services. “We have dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals waiting for loving homes—everything from playful puppies and lovable kittens, and affectionate seniors.” Read more

  On June 7, the Santa Cruz SPCA and Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter will again join dozens of shelters across the nation for the annual Adopt-A-Pet Day.

  As California shelters struggle with an overcrowding crisis, the event aims to find homes for at least 5,000 animals in a single day.

  As an incentive, both local shelters will offer fee-waived adoptions that day for animals that are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will cover adoption fees. Read more
